Ash tree dieback in leaves
You may have become aware in recent times of a fungal problem affecting ash trees. This condition known as Ash Tree Die Back or Chalara fraxinea (C. fraxinea) appears to have arrived in this country from the continent of Europe potentially from Poland and the Netherlands amongst others.
The plants invaded by this fungus, suffer from lesions, leaf necrosis and necrosis of the rachis (the stem between leaf joints). The fungus can be spread in many ways, by birds, by the wind and on your person as well. It is very virulent and in Denmark alone, a staggering 90% of ash trees have either been lost to the disease or have had to be destroyed to prevent it spreading.
